There's A New Snapple On the Block

Very exciting news, I've discovered a new diet Snapple flavour!  It's tropical flavour and very yummy, it tastes a bit like an iced tea version of Lilt .

Just en route for the store for a busy day of everything store related. The sea and sky are very grey today and its raining again! On the plus side it is  still very warm, so I will definitely need an ice cold Snapple to cool me down.

Catch ya later!

I haven't got much for you today, I've been a busy bee at work. No photos either I'm afraid. I know, poor show on my part. Instead I will leave you with the quote of the day said by a fellow Brit, - "I'm gona have to cut you short as your story is so boring its making my eyes close!"

Punks, Cowboys and Action Heros.

So today I ventured into the city again and best of all I got to Skype with my beautiful sister on Time Square!

After arriving in Manhattan, following a rather packed subway journey reminiscent of sardines in a tin, I made my way to The Met to see the Punk Exhibition - 'Chaos to Couture'. It was great and really interesting as it featured a lot of British history, artists, designers and musicians. Although, I must say that nothing will compare to the Alexander McQueen exhibition I saw at the Met in 2011.

Following my morning at the Met I had a mooch around Lexington and Madison. I went the Nespresso's boutique-esque coffee store to top up on pods for the coffee machine at the apartment! I know darh-ling!

An iced coffee and a half and half Snapple later I was ready to do a cheeky bit of shopping on 5th! I lost an hour of my life in the pumping, pitch black abyss that is Abercrombie & Fitch. I'm kinda feeling that I'm getting to old for this kind of shopping experience. The music was way too loud and it was so dark that I could barely see what I was trying on. Yes, I'm sounding like an old woman, definitely too old for Abercormbie. I also went to Nike Town and bought a few bits for running, (Jen and Tarran, I wish you could have been there!).

Time Square was next on the agenda - its funny, in no way do I feel like a tourist but for some reason I had to go there again and get it out of my system. I also met a few characters whilst there...

I'm sorry but I just had to!

A surreal but true sighting.

I don't think the one of the right liked me very much!

Oh and somewhere along the way I popped into Magnolia Bakery on 6th to take photos of the cupcakes like a tourist....

Pretty little things.

With sore feet and an empty Snapple bottle I decided to find a subway and head home, (not so sardine like this time).

The magical skyline of Manhattan as I got off the F train in Brooklyn.
I took a few more photos as walked home from the Station to Red Hook....

One of my new locals, so local in fact that the guy that works there comes over to the store to use our loo when there's a que! That reminds me, he owes me a cocktail!

The truck outside Sunny's and it's furry passengers.

Now having had my customary G&T (or two), I am now retiring to bed. Night night x

English Gal Goes To Manhattan

I think the weather is having a bit of a personality crisis! After nearly dying of heat exhaustion yesterday, this morning I nearly drowned on the way to the subway as it absolutely tipped is down, torrential style! Brogues were the order of the day, sturdy shoes for my long day of exploration. Luckily by the time I got off the tube in Manhattan the rain had stopped but sky still remained a dubious shade of grey (not 50 shades!). On the plus side I was greeted at the subway exit by a Starbucks guy giving out free iced coffee! My prayers were answered!

Brogues!

'Love' near the subway exit.
After I’d had a wonder down 5th Ave and a second iced coffee (despite the grey skies, it was still very warm), I decided to walk to Grand Central Station to have lunch at the Oyster Bar as I enjoyed it so much last time I was in NY. This turned out to be a very fun and entertaining experience! I ordered green lip mussels to start and Bronizini (rather like Sea Bass) for main, along with a glass of champers as a treat. Upon ordering, the waiter asked if I would like the French Champagne (er…what other kind of champagne is there?!). Next the waiter asked if I would like a bib to wear whilst eating my lunch, I found this hilarious and thought they were joking, but no, no they were quite serious! I ended up crying with laughter at the thought of wearing a bib (especially a my new flat mate is a 2 month old baby), meanwhile the waiter had walked over and tied one around my neck! I found this so funny a photo had to be taken...

The waiters gave me 5 more bibs to take home as a memento! I finished my lunch and had a wondered around Grand Central Station; its such a beautiful building.

After a bit (ok, a lot) more walking, a few random conversations with random people, some shopping and my third iced coffee, I found myself in the East Village, which I was midway exploring when the heavens opened again. As I was close to the subway I decided to head home, plus I my feet couldn't handle anymore walking!

A pretty mosaic lamppost in East Village.

Tomorrow I’m heading back into the city to check out a few exhibitions, and maybe a wonder around Central Park if its not raining!

Roof Top Writing

So I've found myself on the roof again....with a gin in hand! I really like it up here, the view is 'awesome' and hardly anyone comes up here (god knows why??!). I think the Statue of Liberty could be my new drinking partner! Dont worry I'm not going completely crazy, I have meet some real people too! Ive been invited out for drinks this week actually. Some 'kids' (apparently anyone under the age of 30 is classed as a kid), came into the shop today and we got chatting and we're are hooking up for drinks at Sunnys! Its easy to strike up conversation with practically anyone with my accent as its always a talking point, half the time its because they think I'm Australian and I have to correct them.

It's rather windy up here, my hair is blowing everywhere so I can barely see what I'm writing. I've decided to indulge in some self portraits so you can see what I mean....

Cheers!

.

The Statue of Liberty is looking somewhat spiritual right now, I feel like a miracle is about to take place.....

I haven't photo-shopped this I promise!

It's getting a bit darker now and the lights are gradually coming on across the Manhattan skyline. Tomorrow I have the day off so more exploring for the English Gal. Watch this space for photos.

'Empire State of Mind' has just come on on my itunes (which is on shuffle), very apt, maybe that's my little miracle.

Sharing A Gin With Lady Liberty

So, right now I'm sat on the roof terrace with a G&T watching the sun set behind my new neighbour...
